Menagerie is run by Artifact. This page says what is stored, why, and who can see it.
What is stored
Your account: a handle, a display name, an optional bio and avatar, and the sign-in identity you used (Google, Apple, or an email address). Your things: the lists you make, the items in them, your notes and statuses, and the order. Activity: who changed what and when, shown to the people who may see that list. Nothing else is collected about you.
Who sees it
Only the people your sharing settings name. Private is the default. Your friends list, follows, and groups exist so sharing works, and are visible to the people involved. There is no advertising, no analytics profile, no sale of data, and no feed algorithm.
Cookies
A session cookie keeps you signed in. When you open a list shared by link, a cookie scoped to that one list remembers the key so the link works on later visits. Your theme choice is kept in your browser. There are no third-party cookies.
Fetching the web
When you add a URL, the server fetches that page once to find out what it is and to copy its preview image. The fetch comes from Artifact's servers, not your device, so the site you save does not learn your address.
Assistants
An assistant you connect receives a token that sees what you can see, within the scopes you choose. Every change it makes is labeled with its name. Revoking the token ends its access at once.
Where it lives, and leaving
Data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Any list exports in open formats at any time. Deleting your account removes your lists and notes and anonymizes your comments on other people's lists; stored copies of preview images go with them.
